Express Your Inner Mutant With These X-Men Gift Ideas

This weekend, X-Men: Days of Future Past opens in movies theaters everywhere and it’s going to be a doozie. By allowing Wolverine to move back in time combining present day X-Men with the 60’s mutant band of X-Men: First Class, Bryan Singer is clearly intending to create an epic adventure  that will have a huge impact on another film now being slated as X-Men: Apocalypse. EW’s review this week passed the movie with a B+ so if any of you get in the mood to gear up with X-Men stuff, we’ve found some unique X-Men gift ideas and personalized items to express your inner mutant.

X-Men Polo

Seriously, you can can visit almost any brick and mortar store or online brand and find an X-Men related t-shirt. Zazzle, Old Navy, Wal-Mart, Hot Topic, Cafe Press….the list goes on. But how cool would it be to wear this legit polo sporting an embroidered X-Men logo as if you work at the Xavier Institute of Higher Learning?

If the polo just isn’t cutting it (say whaaa), a t-shirt always makes a great gift too. Redbubble.com has an awesome selection of retro and contemporary X-Men designs superior to places like Zazzle, Target or Old Navy (in my humble opinion).

X-Men Belt Buckle

Support our heroic mutants on a daily basis by wearing an X-Men belt buckle. Any geek would appreciate (ahem Howard Wolowitz) a unique X-Men gift like a shining metallic X. Peachykiki on Etsy offers a couple variances for men and women that look well crafted. Superherostuff.com also seems to stock a number of unique belt buckles that are more character focused.

X-Men Jewelry

Another covert way to celebrate the X-Men without freaking out co-workers and friends (your helpless spouse already understands your inner geek-iness) is by wearing jewelry. There is a bunch of junk out there that just looks tacky, but a few wonderful artists on Etsy have made some very classy and stylish metallic and leather body decor. By searching for “Xmen jewelry” on Etsy, you’ll find an assortment of pendents, bracelets, necklaces and more.

X-Men Mug

A mug is a safe choice for a gift and there are a huge assortment of X-Men themed cups available online. Coffee connoisseurs who watched the premier midnight showing of X-Men: Days of Future Past will no doubt be thankful for a unique X-mug even if they already have a collection of mutant mugs stored in their kitchen cabinet. I just don’t see how you can go wrong here.

X-Men Racing Suit

I have to admit that I didn’t see this one coming. Any comic nerd whose side hobby consists motorcycling or racing is truly paradoxical, and yet, this X-Men motorcycle suit on TopGearLeather.com demonstrates those types of people actually exist…and that gives me hope. Reviewers indicate the wicked suit is a little tight, but that’s to be expected from an outfit derived from comic book heroes…right? This would also make an absolutely amazing Halloween costume.

X-Men Shower Curtain

There is no way in hell my wife would allow me to have this totally awesome X-Men shower curtain. CafePress offers a bunch of different X-Men themed designs so my only hope is convincing my five year old son that it’s time to re-theme his bathroom. Mickey Mouse has got to go. This sounds like an easy task, but somehow I think it’s going to be an uphill battle.

X-Men Shoes

Forget the crazy magnetic shoes (inspired by Magneto) that actually let’s you walk upside down, X-Men based shoes and socks are in. My eldest son (an 18-year-old narcissist pot head) first revealed these wearable comic memorabilia so naturally I resisted, but now I can no longer ignore how hipster they are. Women and men (or boys and girls) can strut in X-Men shoes, high heels, slippers and sandals. See for yourself…

X-Men Socks

Yeah, the kids are into super high socks now, but I think they look ridiculous because I’m slowly becoming an old fart. Or it’s just ugly, and I’m going with the latter. By performing a quick Google search for “Xmen socks” you will easily discover some flashy examples of pure silliness.
