What is Small Business Week?
Created by the U.S Small Business Association, National Small Business Week is intended to spotlight the successes, innovations and achievements of entrepreneurs to inspire small business owners nationwide.
According to SBA’s website, nearly half of Americans work for or own a small business, and those entities create about two of three new jobs each year.
During National Small Business Week, the U.S. Small Business Administration observes the impact of outstanding entrepreneurs, small business owners, and others from all 50 states and U.S. territories. Every day, small businesses create 21st century jobs, drive innovation and directly increase America’s global competitiveness.
“National Small Business Week is a chance to honor our nation’s 28 million small businesses and renew our commitment to fostering the entrepreneurial spirit that is central to the American experience,” says SBA Administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet, the head of the U.S. Small Business Administration, in a statement from Entrepreneur.com.
