The comic mammoth, Marvel, has shared more incredible rap variants, giving props to Kevin Gates, Chance The Rapper, LL Cool J, Wu-Tang Clan, Big Daddy Kane, and Salt-N-Pepa.

Back in 2015, Marvel introduced the Hip Hop Variants collection, featuring 50 comic book covers reimagined as classic and contemporary rap album covers. The original collection drew inspiration from De La Soul’s 3 Feet High and Rising, Dr. Dre’s The Chronic, A$AP Rocky’s Long.Live. A$AP, and more.

Editor-in-Chief of Marvel Comics, Axel Alonso, introduced the new set of tributes via Twitter on September 15th, after initially being premiered on Playboy, placing beloved heroes like Iron Man, Hulk, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Nova into iconic R&B album imagery.

“Comics and hip-hop share a common narrative: They’re all about underdogs struggling, striving and persevering against overwhelming odds,” Alonso told Playboy. “So it’s no surprise that so many rappers have been influenced by the Marvel mythology or embraced the Marvel heroes over the decades. The hip-hop covers were our way of showing that the love is reciprocal.” – Axel Alonso
